Supporters of the death penalty essay

The death penalty is an issue that has the United States quite divided. While there are many supporters of it, there is also a large amount of opposition. Currently, there are thirtythree states in which the death penalty is legal and seventeen states that have abolished it (Death Penalty Information Center). Some people support the idea of the death penalty, since they say it is only fair for one to forfeit their life if they take the life of another.

Others feel that the death penalty is not fair, and fear that many innocents have been penalized for something they did not do. In Support of the Death Penalty The idea of putting another human to death is hard to completely fathom. The physical mechanics involved in the act of execution are easy to grasp, but the emotions involved in carrying out a death sentence on another person, regardless of how much they deserve it, is beyond my understanding. This assignment instructed students to write a persuasive essay which argues for a specific viewpoint or a specific action to be taken on a societal issue.

I argued for a specific stance to be taken on the issue of the death penalty. The audience for this essay is the opinion section of the Capital punishment, otherwise known as The Death Penalty, has been around for many years and has been the cause of death for over twelve hundred inmates since 1976 (Death Penalty Information Center), but is the Death Penalty really beneficial to the American public.

Supporters of the death penalty in the United States put forward arguments such as deterrence and retribution. Opponents argue that the risk of executing an innocent person outweighs the desirability of the death penalty and Is the Death Penalty a Deterrent to Future Crimes?

The most heinous of crimes are subject to the highest form of punishment death penalty. Capital punishment has its share of supporters who believe in the merits of death penalty in fighting crime. The actions taken to kill someone on death row are horrific in, and to kill someone that didn't commit the crime is an appalling thing to do.

The title is Arguments against the Death Penalty yet the author spent the whole time counterclaiming any arguments brought up rather than explaining the logistics behind the arguments. No side was taken in this essay however the title clearly states that the essay should be on arguments against.
